The Mine |
Only 21 days since the last "Site Wide" Lost Time Accident ?
Other mines in Australia have more than 5 years.......Building WMC's future safely indeed.
The ore stockpile - free to blow radon gas throughout the surrounding region.
The deadly tailings dam.......a radioactive monument to future generations of the stupidity of current generations.
Kangaroo feet immediately adjacent to the tailings retention system......safe hey ?!??
WMC use "Gas Guns" to scare birdlife away from the tailings dam and evaporation ponds (in background)- doh! Just ask any farmer about how useful it is.........
The underground ventilation shafts - dispersing radon gas into the surrounding region, including the township of Roxby Downs.
RD10 - The final exploration borehole of the 1975-76 campaign. If it failed, the project would have been cancelled. WMC struck some 300 m of rich copper-uranium ore. Another 50 metres further east and they would've missed the orebody.....
Somehow a toxic site like a uranium mine is a *tourist* attraction ? Beyond my comprehension.
It's interesting to note that the Mound Springs and Marree are not even mentioned on this sign, despite being right next to the springs and closer to Marree than Roxby.
