20th November 1999

The eight women cameleers, from Humps Not Dumps finished their 1,000 kilometre trek at Beverley at the end of October and 80 people joined them at the mine to celebrate their fantastic achievement. Ntennis Davies from Access News was at the Beverley Uranium Mine Pilot Plant, and he tells us about the celebration and some pretty amazing protests against the mine up there recently.
David Noonan from the Australian Conservation Foundation in Adelaide is interviewed about the National Nuclear Waste Dump planned for the Woomera - Roxby Downs area in South Australia.

13th November 1999

What's happening up at Jabiluka? An in depth interview with Dave Sweeney from the Australian Conservation Foundation. Dave brings together the threads of this involved campaign.
The Radioactive Show goes on the road with the Nuclear Free Ways Project. They take their anti-nuclear message through rural New South Wales on the possible transport route of radioactive waste. They travel from Sydney, the site of the proposed new nuclear reactor to the Woomera area in South Australia where the federal government wants to site a national radioactive waste dump.

2nd October 1999

We look at the disastrous nuclear accident at Tokaimura, 200 kilometres from Tokyo. A hole was blown in the roof of a plant where nuclear fuel rods were being fabricated. People were asked to vacate or stay indoors in the local village.
We hear that the new research reactor at Lucas Heights in Sydney has got its clearance, but the government has no community or environmental representatives on an important nuclear advisory body.
The MOX fuel that sailed past Australia is getting unloaded in Japan.

25th September 1999

The Radioactive show takes a look at the World Heritage decision, and if Kakadu is "in danger" or not, and what it means to the Jabiluka campaign. Dave Sweeney from the Australian Conservation Foundation was in Paris for the World Heritage hearing last July. An in depth and comprehensive interview with Dave.

11th September 1999

We hear from Kevin Buzzacott, Arabunna elder, is claiming Arabunna land from WMC, Western Mining Corporation, at a camp set up on Stuart Creek Station overlooking Lake Eyre South. Western Mining Corporation own the giant copper and uranium mine at Roxby Downs 180 kilometres to the south. It is from the Lake Eyre area that WMC get the water for their mine from the Great Artesian Basin. The students on the South Australian Tour stopped and camped with Kevin and the Keepers of Lake Eyre. After the students had set up camp, Kevin lit a fire and they sat in a circle and listened to what he had to say. This report puts listeners around the same fire as Kevin tells his story.
Eric speaks with Joe Valentine about what's been happening with the international radioactive waste dump, and Pangea in Western Australia.

4th September 1999

A colourful report on the Shut Down North Blockade on the 1st of September, in Melbourne. The 1st of September was the anniversary of the conviction for trespass of Yvonne Margarula, senior traditional owner of Jabiluka. Eric was up bright and early and made it down to North Ltd in St Kilda Road Melbourne by 6.00 o'clock in the morning to hear the supporting toots from motorists on their way to work. He brought back a lively report.
Food irradiation is back on the menu - an interview with Daniel Voronoff from Friends of the Earth, Fitzroy, Melbourne.

28th August 1999

A health study is proposed for the communities living close to the Lucas Height Reactor in the south of Sydney. An interview with Anti-nuclear activist and Councillor, Genevieve Rankin from the Sutherland Shire.
The Federal Parliamentary Works Committee as given the green light to a new reactor at Lucas Height. What does this mean? Interview with Jean McSorley, anti-nuclear campaigner.
The latest information on Pangea, the company that wants to give Australian an international high level radioactive waste dump. (As if we want it).

21st August 1999

An interview with Daniel Voronoff and others on the Nuclear Free Ways Project. An exciting Community Arts and activists project by Friends of the Earth, Fitzroy where a mock radioactive waste transport is being constructed to be taken to communities that could be effected should the new nuclear reactor at Sydney, and the nuclear waste damp in the south Australia go ahead.
Going Solar - An interview with Liz Andrews about the up coming Going Solar Fair to be held in regional Victoria on November the 27th and 28th.

7th August 1999

22nd May 1999

Eric Miller speaks to Genevieve Rankin, Councillor for the Sutherland Shire and member of People Against A Nuclear Reactor, about how much money the Government is putting into promote a new reactor in the Sydney suburb of Lucas Heights.
He also speaks to John Hallam from Friends of the Earth Sydney on the reports to the World Heritage Committee that Kakadu should be put on the In Danger list.
And to David Noonan, ACF Campaign Officer in Adelaide on new moves to proceed with the Honeymoon uranium mine which is located 70 k west of Broken Hill in northern South Australia.

15th May 1999

Eric Miller speaks to Matt Fagan, Policy Officer for the Gundjehmi Aboriginal Corporation on ERA’s temporary cessation of work at the Jabiluka mine.
Eric Miller speaks with Sibyl MacLure from Friends of the Earth, Brisbane. Summit Resources have the lease on the Valhalla uranium deposit near Mt Isa. Summit Resources are bullying the Queensland Government into granting them a licence to mine their deposit.
Eric Miller speaks to John Hallam from Friends of the Earth, Sydney. It is a full year since India tested three nuclear weapons. John has recently returned from India and he gives us his insights into what is happening there.

We commemorate the Three Mile Island accident in Pennsylvania in the United States that happened on the 28^th March 1979, 20 years ago. Three Mile Island was the worst nuclear power accident in the Western World.

David Noonan, campaign officer for the Australian Conservation Foundation in Adelaide, speaking at the Nuclear Free Australia Forum, 5-6^th December 1998 in Melbourne. He outlines how the process Government and the company, Heathgate Resources used to get the Beverley Uranium project approved as a mine was fast tracked and how the same process could be used for other proposed in situ acid leach uranium mines in SA and WA.
Eric speaks to David on 22^nd January about where the process for the approval of the Beverley mine is up to now.

19th December 1998

Report on the latest actions by the Jabiluka Action Group. 1. Banners were unfurled from the flyovers of 3 Melbourne freeways. And on Wednesday about 20 protesters from JAG confronted the Prime Minister John Howard and the Federal Coalition Minister, Dr Michael Wooldridge outside St Vincents hospital.
Mycle Scneider from the World Information Service on Energy in Paris and Jean McSorely, who has been a Greenpeace Nuclear Issues Campaigner and presently works for the CFMEU on energy issues, take a look at the future of the nuclear power industry in the world.

12th December 1998
