The Honeymoon Uranium Project is located on the plains between the Broken Hill in western New South Wales and the south-eastern Lake Frome plains, approximately 600 km north-east of Adelaide and 300 km east of Port Augusta.There is only ONE WAY to find Honeymoon. This is the public road to Mulyungarie Station.
PLEASE DO NOT USE THE PRIVATE ROADS TO BOOLCOOMATA AND KALKAROO STATIONS. TO DO SO WOULD BE TRESPASSING AND AGAINST THE EXPRESS WISHES OF THE PASTORALISTS. Please also make sure of closing gates, and be respectful of all pastoral issues.
Detailed directions (see map below) :
- drive to Cockburn, near the SA-NSW border on the Barrier Highway (the road between Adelaide and Broken Hill - also close to the old Radium Hill mine);
- Just near Cockburn, about 10 km to the west along the Barrier Highway, you should find the road to Mulyungarie Station and Homestead - turn north up here.
- follow this road north for approximately 40-50 km, until you find about the only road going west - turn up here;
- follow this road directly west for about 20 km, after crossing Mingary Creek, there in the distance, should be the Honeymoon Pilot Plant! Yippee ?!!??
- Public tours and vists are welcome, although Southern Cross do request people to book in advance, and only on weekdays.
- TAKE PLENTY OF PETROL TOO - the distances to the nearest petrol station can be deceptive.
- Above all else, HAVE FUN!!! And no violence please - the anti-nuclear/environment movement is based on the principles of Non-Violent Direct Action (NVDA).
