The Gulliver Jingellic Minerals NL (AUS) Dossier

333 Jingellic Minerals NL (AUS)

A gold, tin, oil and diamond exploration company (1) which, in the 1970s, held a uranium prospecting licence in the Northern Territory, along with Peko-Wallsend/EZ Industries (15%) and Australian Anglo-American Ltd who sold out their 50% interest around 1973 (2).

No known work has proceeded in recent years in the licence area.

However, during the 'eighties, Jingellic became one of the more active Australian companies involved in gold exploration and production, through a large number of JVs in Australia, Indonesia and the Philippines.

It holds 60% of the Nevoria JV with Southern Goldfields Ltd, at Marvel loch near Southern Cross, Western Australia (WA) - a mine which has produced around 30,000 ounces of fine gold each year for the last three years. (Both Jingellic and Southern Goldfields, hold JV leases with CRA in WA) (3). Consolidated Gold Mining Areas NL (through both its subsidiary Hamilton Resources Pty Ltd and itself) holds 35.61% of Jingellic, and is also involved with Jingellic in a JV in WA. (Consolidated Gold Mining Areas NL has a gold prospect in East Kalimantan at Sungai Kelai.) Other Indonesian COWs (contracts of work) acquired of late by Jingellic include Kerinci (in western Sumatra), at Jayapura and Yapen Island in West Papua, and Maros and Palu in Sumatra (3, 4).

While Jingellic has other leases in Australia and interests in Singapore and Thailand, as well as a 30% interest in a JV with Asarco near Wiluna, WA, it is most notable for the fact that together with its 35.09%-owned associate Enterprise Gold Mines NL - it holds a 35.3% interest in Benguet Exploration of the Philippines (not to be confused with Benguet Consolidated). Benguet Exploration controls the Thanksgiving gold mine, the Palayan bentonite operations and Ampucao gold prospect in Luzon, and gold exploration leases at Boringot and Kingking on Mindanao (5).
